Products
The value of Volatic Organic Compound (VOC) of San Marco products is well below the limit allowed by EU regulations.
The annual volume of volatile organic compounds introduced in the paints entered in the market is about 2.63% of total kg of products sold. About 45% of raw materials used for the production of paints and varnishes of Colorificio San Marco are of natural origin that does not undergo chemical processes.
Purchase
The Purchasing Department is very attentive and sensitive to the search for suppliers who propose solutions with reduced environmental impact as regards both raw materials as production processes and distribution. For this reason, are privileged "zero km" suppliers and those who carry out research and innovation in the environmental field.
Production
The advanced technology for the production and packaging of the products, allow to handle the majority of incoming raw materials, loading and unloading through the silos, thus obtaining advantages for people and the environment:
- reduction of direct emissions in the atmosphere: during the loading/unloading of raw materials, volatile powders generated are channeled into industrial filters and disposed according to law; this allows to eliminate the powder that can be breathed by production personnel as the production system is closed;
- optimization in the transportation of raw materials;
- reduction of packaging that would otherwise be used to package raw materials.
Order management
The automation of the order cycle, in addition to increasing the service to the customer by reducing the time of order processing, has reduced paper documents produced by the company. In fact, the orders that customers send to Colorificio San Marco are collected through palmtop by agents or directly inserted from the Internet by customers themselves.
Logistic
The logistics processes have been designed and standardized. Orders received are processed internally and routed to factories closer to customer, greatly reducing the distance in kilometers of the products from the production site to the customer. This type of management has allowed us to reduce fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions due to transport.
Waste
The management of production processes reduces the waste generated.
Production waste, surpluses are reused whenever possible to create other products.
Colorificio San Marco for years have made a careful sorting of waste, not only at the plant, as stated in the Italian legislation, but also in offices and common areas of the production plants.
Energy
The commitment to the proper and rational use of energy is a point of strength of Colorificio San Marco. In 2007, have been installed photovoltaic panels for the self-production of electricity; furthermore, sophisticated software for production control makes it possible to keep monitored the absorption of electric current during the entire production process.
